Our Story...
Hi everyone, we are Matt and Lex! Six months ago, we graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder and decided to spend one year living in Bali, Indonesia. In January of 2020, Matt and I actually met in Bali while doing a pre-abroad trip to Australia with a group of students from our university. Prior to the 2020 trip, we ran in the same circle of friends at the University of Colorado, but had never met (or even knew the other existed). Now, almost two years later, we are sharing an incredible villa in Ubud, Bali and spending all of our days together learning, growing, and embarking on a crazy, new adventure. So, follow us along on our once in a lifetime journey, as we explore the incredible island of Bali and share stories of our time living here as a young, American couple.

Hi, I'm Lex!
Hi everyone, I’m Lex! I was born in Seattle, Washington, and am 22 years old. I am the daughter of two immigrant parents, who moved to the United States from France and England before I was born. I am the middle child, with an older brother and a younger sister, who are both my best friends.
I have been very blessed to have traveled all over the world. My family and I would spend 3 months every Summer traveling around Europe and visiting our family there. When I was younger, we lived in Vancouver, Canada, and then moved to Sydney, Australia for a couple of years. I have few memories of living in Australia, but I do remember my favorite pony, Benji, who was the start of my never-ending “horse girl” phase.
I graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder this past May with a degree in Public Relations. My father wanted me to do Business, but here we are.
I am so excited to be living in Bali, Indonesia, and learning a new beautiful way of life, and to be sharing it all with you. Matt and I are still figuring out the ins and outs of building a website, writing blog posts, and finding content that you will love. So, with that being said, I hope you enjoy our website and find inspiration through our journey!

Hi, I’m Matt! I grew up in many places in the United States starting in Scarsdale, New York then Sharon, Massachusetts, and then Valencia, California. I graduated from The University of Colorado Boulder with an Entrepreneurship and management degree. I was feeling an enormous amount of pressure to go get a job where I could not see myself being happy. After what started as a joke of moving to Bali, I couldn’t get the idea out of my head. My girlfriend, Lex, and I actually met in Bali 2 years ago before our going abroad semester in Australia.
I am a huge Yankees and Knicks fan! Bing bong. I also love the outdoors, whether it be hiking in the mountains or hanging out. After my father’s passing when I was 14 years old, I knew I always wanted to enjoy what I do in life. My travel adventures started from wanting to experience new ways of life and different cultures. That is why we started Young People Travel. We want to help others get outside of their comfort and travel this beautiful world and there is no better time to do it than while young. I sold most of my possessions including my car and worked as an UberEats driver to make enough money to start traveling. I now live in Bali, Indonesia. If I can move to a new country where I am still trying to learn the language, so can you!
Our Goal
Our goal is to help inspire young people to travel the world. We believe that the experiences and lessons gained through travel are far greater than from anywhere else. Whether you are a teenager considering moving abroad for a summer to do an internship or volunteer work, or someone in your 20s seeking different experiences in your life, then you have come to the right place. We hope that through sharing our adventures on our blog, you will find the inspiration that you need to pack your bags and travel the world yourself!
